Tribute — The Original Madden Edge

For the man who built the first one.

Before this site existed, maddenedge.com belonged to a player known to his community only as Edge. In the early 2010s — the Madden 11 through Madden 25 years — he ran what he called the internet's best source for Madden tactics and schemes. A former level-30 player, he dedicated his seasons to showing other players how to "win with any team, and against any level of player."

His method was ahead of its time: record full games against winning opponents — never losing records, never .500 players — then talk through every decision afterward. What he was thinking, what worked, why it worked, and how to counter it. Around the videos he built a real community: the Maddenedge Universal Defense e-book, his "Buddy Bet" audible packs, member lab sessions, and a PS3 franchise crew. Edge passed away and the site went dark; the e-books and the member material went with it. But the channel survived — and this page gathers all of it.

Start here — the two essentials

Edge's channel never came down: all 94 of his uploads are still on YouTube, and every one of them is embedded on this page. If you watch nothing else, watch these two full games — presented exactly as he left them.

The Greatest Comeback Ever (2011)

Down 21–0 to a player with a 311–92 record, Edge rebuilt his audible package in the middle of the game and came all the way back. The audibles he settled on late in the third quarter became the "46 Buddy Bet" pack in his Universal Defense e-book — the key calls are blacked out in this free version, which was his way: the video proved it worked, the e-book taught it. At 28,000 views, it is the most-watched thing he ever made.

Edge Destroyer Combo Defense — Cowboys vs. Raiders (March 2011)

A full game built around his "Edge Destroyer" combo defense, Dallas against Oakland — one of the earliest videos of his that survives, from the spring of 2011.

The complete channel archive

Edge's YouTube channel, Madden Edge, joined YouTube on July 5, 2010 and is still online: 94 videos, 556,087 views, around 1,400 subscribers. Below is every remaining upload besides the two featured above, newest first — the 1-6-4 Evolution defense, the Edge Legend and Foxhole defenses, full games with the Ravens, Dolphins, Bears and Texans, his roster optimization series, and his late Madden 25 work. If you only do one thing on this page, go subscribe to a channel whose owner can no longer ask you to.

Gone, but not forgotten

These videos are confirmed to have existed — they are catalogued in contemporaneous video indexes with their original titles, dates, and descriptions — but they have since been set to private or removed. They are remembered here by name:

What the paywall took

Some of Edge's best work was never public. Members got the un-blacked teaching cuts of his games, more than three hours of "Lab Sessions" footage, and a members-only site that sat behind a login. Web archives never got through that door, and no copies of that material survive in any public archive we could search. The pages that sold it survive; the teaching itself is gone.

If you were a member of the original Madden Edge — or if you are part of Edge's family — and you still have any of this material, we would love to preserve it here with full credit. Write to ryangeorgevb@gmail.com.

This revival is a tribute by a former member of that community. It is not affiliated with the original site, its owner, or his estate — it exists so that the name, and the standard he set for teaching this game, are not forgotten.
